About the Role



We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Chemical Scientist to join our team at Lonza. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for delivering technical solutions for the next generation of purification processes that meet industry demands.



Key Responsibilities



  1. Contribute to the development of advanced primary recovery strategies and technologies
  2. Assess novel primary recovery methods and technologies at laboratory and pilot scale
  3. Design, develop, and optimize scalable primary recovery processes and novel affinity purification methods
  4. Assess ligands and tag technologies for novel affinity capture steps
  5. Study ligand-protein interactions through in-silico and biophysical methods
  6. Develop and refine the process conditions for bespoke affinity capture methods
  7. Independently design studies, collate, evaluate, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to achieve project targets
  8. Write and execute detailed study plans with problem statements, success criteria, and timelines
  9. Author high-quality technical reports and publications with scientifically supported conclusions and recommendations


Key Requirements



  1. Bachelor's or master's degree in the field of biotechnology, chemistry, or chemical engineering
  2. Demonstrable experience in working in a laboratory environment
  3. Experience in the primary recovery area, such as depth filtration, centrifugation process development, novel affinity capture methods for monoclonal antibodies and non-monoclonal antibody products
  4. Experience in writing scientific technical reports and publications
  5. Fluent English language skills
