Lead Research Scientist in Gene Therapy

Our client leverages AAV vector technology and boasts a rapidly expanding portfolio that addresses various therapeutic areas, including neurodegeneration, oncology, metabolic disorders, and degenerative eye diseases.
Position Overview
The Lead Research Scientist will play a pivotal role in executing development projects and providing support to the preclinical team in vector innovation. This position requires expertise in AAV vector development to bolster the drug pipeline during the preclinical phase.
- Apply your knowledge of AAV vectorology and molecular biology to propel the AAV platform forward. Collaborate in the development of next-generation AAV platforms and in the design and evaluation of libraries of capsid variants. Create and implement assays for the quantitative measurement of gene expression in cellular models, and assist in the production of AAV vectors.
Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate for the Lead Research Scientist position will possess the following qualifications:
- Extensive theoretical understanding of molecular biology, vector design principles, and AAV vectorology.
- Proficient technical skills in molecular biology, particularly in cloning methodologies.
- Experience and knowledge in AAV biology and production processes.
- Familiarity with analytical techniques such as Western Blot, qPCR, and flow cytometry, along with the capability to conduct thorough data analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization.
- Insight into CNS/Neuroscience research, with a focus on retinal and/or cerebral studies.
- A PhD in molecular or biological sciences; or an MSc in molecular or biological sciences with 1-3 years of experience in academia or the biotech sector; or a BSc in molecular or biological sciences with 3-5 years of experience in academia or the biotech sector.
