Job Title: Pharmacy Technician - Medication Optimization Specialist

About Us: Greenwich PCN Alliance is a leading healthcare organization dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team as a Medication Optimization Specialist.

Job Summary: The successful candidate will work under the supervision of a Clinical Pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate, and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients. This role will contribute to the successful clinical management of patients and is shared across the PCN.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Medication Optimization: Ensure a centralized, safe, and effective medicines optimization process across PCN practices, including repeat prescribing and repeat dispensing processes.
  • Patient Safety: Run searches and action MHRA CAS alerts, support patient queries related to medicines, and refer complex medicines queries to pharmacist/nurse/GP.
  • Quality Improvement Projects and Clinical Audits: Identify patients suitable for virtual clinics to support QIPP implementation, identify patients who have not been issued anticoagulant/lithium/steroid/antiplatelet cards, and ensure read code into the notes.
  • Health Innovation Network (HIN) Project, Lipid Management: Identify patients and risk stratify using UCLP search templates on EMIS, and contact patients for up to date home BP if available.

  • Personal Qualities:
    • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
    • Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
    • Effective time management (planning and organizing)
    • Good interpersonal skills
    • Problem-solving and analytical skills
    • Ability to follow clinical policy and procedure
    • Understanding of the audit process
    • Understanding of clinical risk management
  • Desirable:
    • EMIS/SystmOne/Vision user skills
    • Full Driving License
  • Qualifications:
    • Registration with General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician
    • BTEC/NVQ3 Pharmacy services (or equivalent)
  • Experience:
    • Experience working as a qualified, registered pharmacy technician
    • Desirable: Experience of working in primary care, experience of working in a GP practice
