About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Porter to join our team at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hospital's portering services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients, visitors, and staff safely and efficiently throughout the hospital.
  • Assist with mortuary duties, including the transportation of bodies and the maintenance of mortuary facilities.
  • Deliver equipment, furniture, and fittings as required.
  • Provide a collection and delivery service for internal specimens, theatre/x-ray lists, and other medical supplies.
  • Assist with emergency procedures, including cardiac arrests, major incidents, and patient collapses.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Previous portering experience and a good understanding of hospital procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic written report writing skills.
  • Ability to carry 56lbs in weight.
