Emergency Medical Technician

Yorkshire, United Kingdom Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust Full time

Position Overview

As an Emergency Medical Technician, you will frequently be the initial healthcare provider to respond to both urgent and routine medical situations. Your primary responsibility will be to assess, treat, and transport patients effectively. In scenarios where you are accompanied by a less clinically trained colleague, such as an Ambulance Support Worker, you will be expected to take charge of clinical decisions, provide necessary support, and lead the response.

Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust is actively seeking Emergency Medical Technicians and Newly Qualified Emergency Medical Technicians, as well as students preparing for registration, who are eager to embark on their professional journey within our organization.

We are committed to supporting you through the Newly Qualified Emergency Medical Technician Program, designed to facilitate your transition into the emergency medical field.

Please be aware that Band 6 is designated for Fully Qualified Emergency Medical Technicians only. Those participating in or about to commence the NQP program will be classified at Band 5.

Employment Opportunities

We welcome applications for both full-time and part-time positions. Please note that we are not currently accepting applications for temporary contracts.

Key Responsibilities

Our Emergency Medical Technicians are responsible for evaluating patients and developing and executing their care plans. This includes administering medications and performing necessary medical procedures for which you have received appropriate training. You will be tasked with making critical decisions regarding patient care, including determining the most suitable destination for transport or the required pre-hospital treatment.

You will also need to effectively organize and manage the scene of complex incidents during the initial response until a Manager or Commander arrives. This may involve coordinating patients, bystanders, and other emergency services while taking the lead.

Our Trust's core values are essential to our operations, and you will need to understand and embrace them to thrive in your role at Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Benefits We Offer:
