We are seeking a skilled Street Scene Operative to join our team in Plymouth, working closely with a Local Authority to assist with the appointment of a Street Scene & Waste Operative on a 2-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension. The successful candidate will be responsible for removing waste or recycling from residential and business properties and public land/highway, adhering to Health and Safety guidelines and Codes of Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Removal of waste or recycling from residential and business properties and public land/highway in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines and Codes of Practice.
  • Cleaning locations where spillages and split bags have taken place, and responsible for safe removal of hazardous substances.
  • Reporting unsafe working practices to line manager.
  • Collecting various types of waste and recycling from commercial and residential properties throughout the city.
  • Cleansing public land, highways, and main roads as directed by line manager.

Requirements:

  • Functional skills in English and Maths level 1, and/or the ability to follow straightforward oral and written instructions and keep basic work records.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety in an operational environment.
  • Experience of labouring work or heavy manual work.
  • Experience in delivering high standards of customer care.
