About the Team:

The Technology & Life Sciences Center Team is a dynamic and high-performing group that thrives on collaboration and innovation. Success in this position will require exceptional sales and negotiation capabilities, as well as the ability to manage the renewal process through strategic planning aimed at generating new business, expanding accounts, and identifying cross-sell opportunities. Your underwriting responsibilities will encompass Property & Casualty within the Life Sciences industry, including Products and Excess Liability lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Underwrite renewal business while identifying account rounding opportunities.
  • Manage new business cross-sell and up-sell initiatives across the team.
  • Apply relevant LOB Underwriting guidelines consistently in decision-making.
  • Possess a solid understanding of applicable laws, regulations, and governance.
  • Underwrite renewals within your designated authority level.
  • Consult with Subject Matter Experts for renewals exceeding your authority level.
  • Influence renewal retention and risk-reward outcomes using pricing and underwriting tools.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to agency partners.
  • Collaborate with fellow underwriters in your assigned territory to enhance results and strengthen agency relationships.
  • Identify opportunities for team members.
  • Assist agents with inquiries regarding coverage, processes, and resources.
  • Work alongside Operations partners to manage mid-term changes requiring underwriting input.
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal and external customers in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of underwriting experience in the Life Sciences Industry, specifically in Property and Casualty, including Products and Excess Liability.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Analytical thinking skills to assess business challenges and propose effective solutions.
  • A high-energy self-starter with resilience and an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on delivering results.
  • A willingness to challenge the status quo and strive for excellence.
  • Superior technical knowledge along with sound decision-making and analytical capabilities.

Work Arrangement:

This position offers a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates residing near an office location are expected to work in-office three days a week. Those living further away will primarily work remotely, with occasional office visits as business needs arise.

Compensation:

The annualized base pay range for this role is reflective of market analysis for similar positions. Actual compensation may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstrated competencies. The base pay is just one aspect of The Hartford's comprehensive compensation package, which may also include bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs.
