About the Role

We are seeking a Behaviour Mentor to join our team at a fantastic SEMH Secondary School in the London Borough of Greenwich. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a crucial role in supporting a student with challenging behaviour, providing a positive role model and helping them to overcome their difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support to a student with challenging behaviour, helping them to develop coping strategies and improve their emotional well-being.
  • Work closely with the student's teachers and other support staff to develop a comprehensive support plan, ensuring that the student's needs are met and their progress is monitored.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour, promoting a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the student's family and other professionals to ensure that the student receives consistent support and guidance.
  • Contribute to the development of the school's Behaviour Policy, ensuring that it is effective and meets the needs of all students.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with students with SEMH needs, particularly those with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the needs of the student and the school.
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and strategies for managing challenging behaviour.
  • Understanding of the importance of confidentiality and data protection.
