Position Title: Principal/Senior Executive Officers (Governance)

Nature of Role: Volunteer

Work Arrangement: Remote

The Blockchain & Climate Institute is seeking dedicated VOLUNTEERS who adopt a strategic mindset in their endeavors, foster professional relationships with various stakeholders, and create opportunities for the organization's advancement. The Senior Executive Officer will assist the Company Secretary and contribute to the broader initiatives of the Governance Support Bureau and the Director-General.

This is a voluntary unpaid position, consistent with all roles within the BCI.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing administrative assistance to the Director-General and facilitate effective governance within the BCI;
  • Support the Governance Support Bureau in enhancing the governance framework and processes of the BCI;
  • Contribute to the development of BCI membership;
  • Assist with general resource management tasks;
  • Mentor junior volunteers and aid the Principal Executive Officer (Governance) and the Company Secretary in managing team workflows. Attend blockchain-related events on behalf of the BCI;
  • Provide support during conferences and events for the Director-General and other relevant BCI members.

Qualifications:

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to cultivate effective working relationships, navigate professional and operational boundaries, and engage diplomatically with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Strong proficiency in English writing;
  • Meticulous attention to detail;
  • Outstanding organizational abilities and capacity to manage competing priorities under pressure.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • In-depth understanding of topics relevant to the BCI, such as climate change, climate finance, and blockchain technology is preferred.

Educational Background:

  • A degree or training in Business, Climate Change, Environmental Science, or Finance is preferred;
  • A demonstrated interest in corporate governance, including a qualification in corporate governance or company secretarial work, is preferred.

Relevant Experience:

  • Proven experience in organization/business administration, including independent project leadership;
  • Experience in supporting committees or Boards is preferred;
  • Background in a target-driven role;
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and develop strategies within environmental organizations;
  • Experience in establishing constructive relationships with stakeholders;
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to advance projects using initiative.

Selection Process:

As a voluntary organization, we welcome candidates who may lack prior experience but demonstrate the necessary skills in their written assessments. The BCI's policy is to consider inexperienced candidates for our unpaid voluntary roles, provided they can showcase the required competencies. The selection process typically includes the following assessments:

Section A: Verbal and Numerical Reasoning (20 multiple-choice questions)

Section B: Situational Judgment Test (20 multiple-choice questions)

Section C: In-Tray Exercise (An open-ended assessment relevant to the role's responsibilities)

Candidates who successfully complete all three sections will be invited for a phone screening, followed by a first and final interview conducted online.
