Why This Role is Important:

As Vonage expands its offerings, it is crucial to align our privacy protocols with our growth ambitions. This position will play a key role in reducing privacy risks throughout our operations by ensuring that robust controls are established across our products. The role involves providing exceptional strategic, operational, and policy support in privacy matters, as well as identifying strategic opportunities related to privacy that align with our business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing privacy programs and policies across Vonage and its related entities, along with ongoing monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of these privacy measures.
  • Developing privacy requirements for Vonage and its related entities and supporting their execution.
  • Integrating privacy considerations into products and services through proactive privacy impact assessments of new offerings and corporate functions (e.g., Sales, Marketing, HR, Finance).
  • Advising commercial and CMT teams on privacy matters and negotiating relevant data protection agreements with partners, suppliers, vendors, and clients.
  • Staying informed about developments in global privacy legal frameworks and relevant industry best practices.
  • Identifying strategic opportunities and effectively communicating them to relevant business units.
  • Fostering and maintaining privacy awareness across Vonage and delivering effective, role-specific privacy training programs.
  • Overseeing consultants and external legal counsel.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in privacy, with in-house experience in a privacy department being advantageous.
  • Expertise in legal or regulatory aspects of privacy and data protection, particularly in the UK and EU, along with a strong understanding of the global privacy landscape in technology and online sectors.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve issues in a complex technology and business environment by developing straightforward, repeatable, and actionable solutions and policy frameworks.

Desirable:

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, public speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity with persistence to drive change over time.
  • Results-driven, proactive, responsible, pragmatic, and ethical individual with a passion for privacy and an interest in technology and its societal implications.
  • Experience with communication platforms as a service (CPaaS) and APIs is a plus.
  • CIPP/E certification or other privacy certifications are advantageous.
