Working Hours: 37 Hours per week

Worker Type: Mobile worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £20,441 in the first year, increasing to £20,812 in the second year. Salary will be determined by age, in accordance with National Minimum Wage rates. This position is a Fixed Term Contract for 42 months to facilitate this entry-level apprenticeship.

Role Overview: The successful candidate will engage in a Level 3 apprenticeship, with training costs covered through the Government's Apprenticeship Levy. This will necessitate a commitment of at least 6 hours per week for off-the-job learning and training, with specifics confirmed during the initial assessment. The apprenticeship duration is set for 42 months.

Apprenticeships are accessible to individuals aged 16 and over who are not in full-time education and are eligible to work and study in the UK. This apprenticeship combines employment with training, leading to a nationally recognized qualification upon completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand and apply the principles and regulations for the termination and connection of conductors, cables, and cords in electrical systems.
  • Prepare and install wiring systems and electrotechnical equipment in various environments.
  • Inspect, test, commission, and certify electrotechnical systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose and rectify electrical faults in electrotechnical systems.
  • Apply electrical principles related to the design, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Plan and select appropriate electrotechnical equipment for installations.
  • Prepare for the maintenance of electrotechnical systems and equipment.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and current Wiring Regulations.

Assessment will include both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, and a mentor will be assigned to support your success throughout the apprenticeship.

Essential Requirements:

  • GCSE grade 4 (C) in Maths and English is preferred; level 2 or equivalent is required.
  • Commitment to undertake a 42-month Level 3 apprenticeship upon employment commencement.
  • Must not be overqualified for the apprenticeship to ensure eligibility.
  • Functional skills testing in math and English will be arranged prior to the interview.
