Marine Ecologist Senior Specialist

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Marine Ecologist to join our team as an Associate Director. As a senior member of our marine ecology team, you will provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, internally and externally. You will manage inputs to a wide range of workstreams and deliverables across a broad range of projects, including involvement in the full EIA or DCO development cycle of major projects.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice to support the delivery of high-profile marine projects.
- Manage inputs to workstreams and deliverables, ensuring high-quality outputs and compliance with quality management procedures.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve environmental outcomes of projects, including specialists in underwater acoustics, coastal processes, water scientists, and marine archaeologists.
- Contribute to work winning, including developing technical and fee proposals, and marketing and business development activities.
- Support project management, including resource allocation and budget management, and provide mentoring and training to junior team members.
We are looking for a candidate with a recognized degree in a relevant discipline, such as marine biology/ecology or a related biological or science discipline, and ideally an appropriate professional membership (CIEEM or similar). You should have comprehensive marine ecological expertise, with demonstrable experience in the preparation and review of specialist technical chapters and associated impact assessments.
You should also have a detailed understanding of the marine consenting and licensing regimes across the UK, with experience liaising with and submitting licence applications to key regulatory bodies. Additionally, you should be able to work closely with clients and provide bespoke advice to help them successfully deliver their goals.
