Marine Ecologist Senior Specialist

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Marine Ecologist to join our team as an Associate Director. As a senior member of our marine ecology team, you will provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, internally and externally. You will manage inputs to a wide range of workstreams and deliverables across a broad range of projects, including involvement in the full EIA or DCO development cycle of major projects.
Key Responsibilities- Technical Expertise: Provide technical marine ecological and marine consenting advice, including the preparation and review of specialist technical chapters and all associated impact assessments.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that our deliverables are produced to the highest quality standards and compliance with our rigorous quality management procedures.
- Collaboration: Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to improve the environmental outcomes of our projects, including specialists in underwater acoustics, coastal processes, water scientists, and marine archaeologists.
- Project Management: Make effective use of your project management skills, appropriately managing resources and budgets, and support on procurement and management of specialist subcontractors when needed.
- Mentoring: Help develop and train more junior members of the team.
- A recognised degree in a relevant discipline such as marine biology/ecology or a related biological or science discipline and ideally an appropriate professional membership (CIEEM or similar).
- Comprehensive marine ecological expertise with demonstrable experience in the preparation and review of specialist technical chapters and all associated impact assessments.
- A detailed understanding of the marine consenting and licensing regimes across the UK with experience liaising with, and submitting licence applications, to the key regulatory bodies.
- Understanding of inputs from other technical disciplines, such as acoustics, coastal and geological processes, as well as engineers and designers.
