About the Role
The Extracare Charitable Trust t/a Extracare Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Support Specialist to join our team at Hagley Road Retirement Village in Birmingham.
We are committed to delivering exceptional care and support to our residents, and we are looking for an individual who shares our passion for making a positive impact on the lives of older people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one support to residents living with dementia and mental health conditions, using a person-centered approach to promote their well-being and independence.
- Manage caseloads effectively, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Utilize cognitive assessments and psychosocial interventions to address residents' needs and concerns.
- Develop empathic relationships with residents, their families, and carers, providing emotional support and guidance when needed.
- Stay up-to-date with best practices in dementia and mental health care, applying knowledge to inform care decisions and improve outcomes.
Requirements
- Knowledge of dementia and mental health conditions, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
- Experience of working in a care setting, preferably with older adults.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to remain motivated and composed in challenging situations, prioritizing resident well-being and safety.
- Formal qualification in a relevant field, such as health and social care, psychology, or counseling.
