Key Responsibilities

We are looking to appoint qualified Child and Adolescent Psychologists (NHS band 8a equivalent) to join our dynamic team. This role offers diverse and rewarding experiences across various settings, with the chance to contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of our services.

We invite applications from qualified professionals interested in supporting children and adolescents facing mental health challenges, including those who have undergone trauma and other adverse childhood experiences, such as Looked After Children. Candidates should be prepared to work autonomously as a Child and Adolescent Psychologist under the guidance of a Consultant Psychologist, collaborating within a multidisciplinary team that includes Psychiatry, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, and Education professionals.

As part of your role, you will:

  • Deliver a range of psychological interventions for children and adolescents utilizing the latest evidence-based methodologies.
  • Supervise assistant psychologists and psychology graduates (Therapeutic Practitioners) in providing psychological support.
  • Conduct assessments (including risk assessments), formulate treatment plans, and provide recommendations for psychological care.
  • Develop and implement care plans that incorporate psychological treatment and case management.
  • Train and guide support staff to enhance psychologically informed practices within the residential setting.
  • Evaluate treatment options and monitor outcomes to ensure effectiveness for your caseload while supporting and supervising other practitioners.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and contribute to the development of care plans and expected health/social outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records and adhere to established policies and procedures.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision and participate in service development initiatives.

The Child and Adolescent Psychologist will be integrated into a broader multidisciplinary team and will have access to a Consultant Psychologist at our affiliated site.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent).
  • HCPC registration.
  • Familiarity with child and adult safeguarding legislation.
  • Experience in routine clinical outcomes monitoring.
  • Knowledge of clinical risk assessment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient computer skills with a broad range of IT capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent literacy and report writing skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads and applying diverse interventions.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in delivering specialized assessments in Autism, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, complex needs, and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Knowledge of developmental trauma and its implications.
