About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our dedicated inpatient team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to develop your clinical skills in a fast-paced environment while contributing to the timely discharge of patients back to their homes.

Your Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist Occupational Therapy assessments, interventions, and rehabilitation to patients, focusing on functional recovery and successful home discharges.
  • Collaborate closely with the multidisciplinary team (MDT), Principal OT, Discharge Liaison Team, and Local Authorities to ensure seamless cross-boundary and agency working within the D2RA model.
  • Supervise and support junior members of the team and student Occupational Therapists, fostering a culture of learning and development.
  • Deliver evidence-based, quality interventions grounded in research, audit, and quality improvement projects.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet service needs, possess excellent self-management skills, and efficiently manage your caseload to ensure effective intervention focused on preventing avoidable admissions, rehabilitation, and efficient discharge planning.

About You

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Your ability to work effectively under pressure within a multidisciplinary team is essential.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • Post-graduate training/accreditation in fieldwork education
  • Knowledge and understanding of factors influencing discharge planning, including cognitive, physical, psychological, and cultural aspects.
  • Clinical reasoning skills to effectively assess complex cases and make sound clinical decisions.
  • The ability to work flexibly and adapt to unpredictable, challenging work environments.
