About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Center Team Lead to join our team at Technical Global Solutions. As a Data Center Team Lead, you will be responsible for managing and supporting our client's data center cabling infrastructure, server and network hardware, and physical security controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Management: Supervise and manage a team of four DC Engineers, ensuring efficient execution of tasks and adherence to procedures.
  • Rack Building & Hardware Installation: Oversee equipment rack building, copper and fibre patching, SFP module installations, and complete hardware installations for new server deployments.
  • Connectivity Testing: Ensure all installations undergo thorough connectivity testing, focusing on end-device patching.
  • Change Management: Own change records for new installations and server moves, ensuring accurate and timely updates.
  • Build Process Support: Assist with all facets of the build process, including shipping and receiving, identifying incompatibilities, and devising workaround solutions.
  • Routine Changes & Server Relocations: Support routine changes, such as using IDRAC/MGMT ports for adjustments (IP's, gateway, ports, etc.) and managing server relocations within and across data centers.
  • Break/Fix Incident Response: Lead the team in responding to break/fix incidents, ensuring swift and effective resolution.
  • Data Center Maintenance & Monitoring: Assist in maintaining and monitoring data center systems, including incident management, problem resolution, and support queue monitoring.
  • Daily Health Checks: Perform daily data center health checks, including walkthroughs to verify alerts and report findings.
  • Asset Management: Oversee IT asset management, including database record updates, lifecycle ticket raising for installations/decommissions, and maintaining inventory records for spares and cabling materials.
  • Capacity Reporting: Provide capacity reporting and available cab counts, ensuring accurate data is available for planning.
Requirements
  • Banking IT Environment Experience: Experience working in a banking IT environment.
  • Data Center MAC Experience: Experience in a data center environment, specifically in IT hardware deployment.
  • Structured Cabling Expertise: Strong knowledge of structured cabling standards, installation, fault finding, and testing with Fluke test equipment.
  • MS Office Proficiency: Excellent proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Self-Motivation and Organization: Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively under pressure.
  • Asset & Ticketing Systems Knowledge: Expert knowledge of asset management and ticketing systems.
  • Change Management & Service Delivery: Deep understanding of change management and service delivery processes.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Proven ability to lead and supervise teams, mentor new starters, and manage shift activities and special projects.
  • Service Delivery Experience: Extensive experience in service delivery within a large-scale environment, including incident management, escalation procedures, and project delivery.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Information Technology Qualifications: Prior training or qualifications within the information technology field.
  • BICSI Technician Training: Certification in BICSI technician training.
  • Certified Data Center Technician Professional (CDCTP): Holding a CDCTP certification.
