Job Title: Head of Loan Originations

The Head of Loan Originations plays a critical role in the success of our business, overseeing the development and implementation of strategies for the full scope of Loan Originations. This includes four key areas of focus: Underwriting, Payouts, Introducer Support, and Specialist Funding.

This role involves day-to-day management and oversight of a process function, as well as effective team management and technical project responsibility for driving process, performance, and technology improvements. A strong understanding of technology and analytics is essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team of professionals, including people management, goal setting, and performance evaluation.
  • Develop, implement, and train new automated systems and technology advancements to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Understand the user journey and take ownership of existing and new products and features to ensure they meet customer needs.
  • Interrogate product ideas to ensure the problem is understood ahead of the solution.
  • Manage complex technical issues and work with non-technical staff to resolve problems.
  • Ensure that the team underwrites referred deals according to policy and mandate, and manage more information queries, investigate potential Frauds, PEP, and Sanctions matches, and manage client feedback.
  • Monthly review of underwriting, payouts, specialist funding, and introducer support to ensure compliance and quality.
  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of credit proposals.
  • Interview and recruit new employees, and train them to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Review existing procedures and processes to identify areas of improvement.
Person Specification:
  • Demonstrable experience of managing high-performing teams, or leading within a senior role, preferably within an FCA regulated environment.
  • Good team player, flexible, and able to work on own initiative.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, able to establish effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Ability to work with competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Resilient, not derailed by a setback and returns to a high level of performance quickly.
  • Awareness of current FCA regulations.
  • Ability to understand and comply with documented processes, policies, and procedures.
Working Arrangements:
  • Office hours are between 8 am-7 pm, with a requirement to complete 7.5 hours a day.
  • Hybrid working available after probation period is completed (3 days in the office as a minimum).
  • Must be able to drive as the office isn't easily located by public transport.
