Your Role as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant

As an HLTA, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons prepared by the class teacher in their absence.
  • Demonstrating a genuine passion for working with young people, particularly those with SEN.
  • Engaging and inspiring students on their learning journey.
  • Building strong, positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Adapting teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Applying a sound understanding of special educational needs and employing effective strategies to support young people.
  • Bringing previous experience working in education, particularly in SEN settings.
