Job Description

ACS Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their team in Northampton. As a key member of the logistics team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the haulage team, coordinating and optimizing the movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work Allocation: Allocate work to couriers across all size fleets up to HGV's, ensuring optimal resource utilization and meeting customer demands.
  • Booking Management: Accurately take bookings and advise clients of our services, providing clear communication and ensuring seamless customer experience.
  • Job Monitoring: Monitor jobs through to Proof of Delivery (POD) and completion, ensuring timely and efficient execution.
  • SLA Implementation: Implement and maintain Service Level Agreements (SLA's) with clients, ensuring high standards of service delivery.
  • Communication: Proactively keep clients and employees informed of any delays, issues, or deviations, maintaining transparency and trust.
  • Fleet Management: Ensure fleet size is sufficient to service clients, particularly during peak periods, optimizing resource allocation.
  • Driver Performance: Ensure drivers achieve maximum revenue, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance performance.
  • Backload Management: Seek backloads for drivers, maximizing vehicle utilization and reducing empty miles.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous transport industry and HGV planning experience is essential, with a proven track record of success.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with clients, couriers, and suppliers, remaining professional at all times.
  • Organizational Skills: Highly organized and proactive, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Customer Focus: Managing and exceeding customer expectations, providing exceptional service and building strong relationships.
  • Initiative: Acting on your own initiative without constant supervision, demonstrating a proactive and results-driven approach.
  • Geographical Knowledge: Good geographical knowledge, with the ability to navigate complex routes and optimize delivery schedules.
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literate, with proficiency in relevant software and systems.
