Key Responsibilities- Commercial Project Coordination: Coordinate all commercial aspects of Energy Asset Projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Contract Management: Be functionally responsible for the execution of all commercial aspects, particularly contractual relationships with major contractors.
- Negotiation and Procurement: Negotiate with suppliers and contractors to meet project objectives, ensuring the best possible outcomes for Uniper.
- Claims Management: Understand the claims management process and know when to access specialist procurement, legal, and claims management support.
- Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Work in a multi-national environment with all levels of staff, fostering effective communication and collaboration.
- Project Management Office Support: Work with the Project Management Office and support the Project Controller and Risk Manager activities, as needed.
- Financial Decision-Making: Make contractually binding commitments of significant financial sums, often on short time-scales and under pressurized circumstances.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Be resilient, willing, and able to defend financial positions, whether positive or negative, to all relevant stakeholders.
- Ambiguous Situations: Operate in ambiguous situations, where fine judgments are required, with possible longer-term and legal implications.
- Project Portfolio Management: Manage the commercial aspects of several projects simultaneously, working from a mix of locations in accordance with project demands.
- Budgeting and Cost Control: Take budgetary responsibility for authorizing sufficient funds to deliver Asset Projects and ensuring construction projects are kept within authorized thresholds.
- Change Control: Be responsible for managing appropriate change control mechanisms to ensure all expenditure remains compliant with Uniper's financial policy.
- Cost Calculation and Forecasting: Take responsibility for cost calculation, forecasting, and cost reporting on Asset Projects, drawing on relevant resources from across the business for support.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Academic Qualification: An academic qualification in a technical subject and/or an MBA and/or demonstrable qualification by experience.
- Commercial Experience: Significant experience in the commercial environment supporting complex technical works and projects.
- Procurement Expertise: Experienced in running competitive procurement processes for Energy Asset products and services.
- Contractor Negotiation: Contractor negotiation and management expertise.
- Credible Relationships: A demonstrable track record of credible relationships developed with technical, financial, procurement, and legal colleagues.
- Project Management Skills: Experience and understanding of project management skills, processes, and activities.
- Risk Management: Practical commercial project risk management.
- Complex Technical Understanding: A profound understanding of complex technical, economic, and contractual relations on Asset Projects, including contracting types.
- Communication Skills: Strong and willing communicator, who is convincing and assertive.
- Continuous Improvement: Application of learning for continuous improvement, both within and between projects.
- Diversity Management: Embracing challenge and opportunities to enhance outcomes by evaluating situations from different perspectives, leveraging cultural differences.
- Language Skills: Fluent in English.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Project Management Qualification: A project management qualification.
- Energy Technology Knowledge: Knowledge and awareness of different energy technologies, including fossil, renewables, and novel technologies.
- International Experience: International energy projects experience.
- Second Language: A second language.
