Debt Recovery Specialist

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Collections and Database Officer to join our team. As a key member of our revenue collection team, you will be responsible for the efficient and effective collection of revenue in accordance with legislation and service objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize internal memo systems to gather information and share with other council departments.
- Respond to customer enquiries within specified timescales.
- Interview customers and make arrangements for payment.
- Account for monies received and control the use of manual receipt books and other documents.
- Ensure Controlled Goods Agreements are kept secure and available on request.
- Support Enforcement Agents by allocating workload cases.
- Enter reports via devices/databases in accordance with council processes.
- Comply with procedures to maintain accurate databases, fulfill audit requirements, and meet/exceed internal and external accreditations.
- Provide information, support, and advice to stakeholders and other services to meet council standards in service delivery and customer care.
- Differentiate between debtors avoiding payment and those requiring a more sympathetic approach, with knowledge of welfare rights.
Requirements
We require someone with knowledge of academy systems, debt recovery OneStep system, AIM payment portal processing systems, and experience working in the debt recovery industry. Ideally, the candidate should have some form of knowledge of the Taking Control of Goods Regulations 2014, possess call handling skills, and be able to manage difficult call content and conflict well.
