Job Overview

This pivotal position demands a comprehensive understanding of payment systems and products, along with adept project management skills and a collaborative approach to align organizational objectives with the capabilities of our network providers.

As a Vice President of Agent Bank Operations at J.P. Morgan, you will oversee the ongoing regulatory and operational performance of our agent bank partners, ensuring alignment with our strategic business goals. You will engage with key stakeholders across various functions including Business, Operations, Compliance, Risk, and Legal, while maintaining strong relationships with our network of agent banks and Financial Market Infrastructures (FMIs). You will report directly to the regional head of Network Management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop a thorough understanding of cash payment systems, products, cash management, and treasury processes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards across all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Lead the Due Diligence and Final Assessment Report processes for designated markets and agent banks, adhering to regulatory and procedural timelines.
  • Identify risks and vulnerabilities affecting J.P. Morgan's Lines of Business (LOBs) and collaborate with cross-functional partners to devise effective solutions.
  • Foster strong relationships with business lines and partners, articulating key business strategies and requirements effectively.
  • Maintain an in-depth understanding of assigned markets, applying this knowledge to support business and client strategies, while providing insights on market and regulatory changes.
  • Conduct analyses on provider and network capabilities, offering strategic recommendations to business partners and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the implementation of agent bank changes in assigned markets, driven by due diligence findings and business needs, while achieving targeted fee reductions.
  • Respond efficiently to market-specific inquiries and escalations from businesses, clients, and network management colleagues, ensuring timely communication of market information.
  • Represent Network Management in new business initiatives, assessing risks associated with new engagements, products, or business lines.
  • Support audit requirements and contribute to projects, committees, and governance forums, representing J.P. Morgan at the industry level as necessary.
  • Manage crisis situations affecting covered markets, coordinating activities across stakeholders and partners.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Extensive experience in the payments sector with a strong grasp of payment products and systems, including regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven expertise in Third Party Oversight (TPO), risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Exceptional relationship management, negotiation, and influencing capabilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and project management skills.
  • Ability to synthesize information and demonstrate sound judgment under pressure.
  • Proficient in identifying and negotiating innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Background in financial services with relevant industry experience.
  • Self-driven with a capacity to collaborate across the global Network Management team and various functional areas such as Compliance, Legal, Risk, and Technology.
  • Meticulous attention to detail coupled with the ability to absorb information and formulate strategic approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in risk assessment.
  • A collaborative team player, capable of managing competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with agent banks, FMIs, or non-bank financial institutions is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in Network Management is a plus.
