Job Title: Second Chef

We are seeking a skilled Second Chef to join our care home team, where you will play a vital role in ensuring our residents enjoy high-quality, well-balanced meals every day.

About the Role

As a Second Chef, you will work closely with the Head Chef to plan and prepare meals that cater to the dietary needs and preferences of our residents. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring that food is prepared and served to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook hot and cold meals, ensuring they meet the dietary needs and preferences of our residents.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to plan menus that provide a balanced and nutritious diet, making the most of fresh, available ingredients.
  • Manage the day-to-day kitchen operations, including ordering supplies, checking deliveries, and conducting stock valuations.
  • Ensure that all food is prepared and served to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Uphold statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment.
Requirements
  • Culinary qualifications, such as City & Guilds 706 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team to achieve common goals.
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, ensuring you understand and implement best practices in food safety.
  • Good communication skills to liaise with team members and understand residents' dietary needs.
  • Ability to work independently and take the lead in the kitchen, when the Head Chef is not available.
