We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Bicester. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading major projects and taking a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership: Responsible for the successful delivery of major projects, including team management, project coordination, and engineering services.
  • Cost and Profit Analysis: Conduct cost and profit diagnosis on projects, including feasibility studies and preparation of fee bids.
  • Project Reporting: Prepare project reports for management, clients, and other stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate updates.
  • Design and Specification: Develop and specify applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for building engineering services.
  • Installation and Testing: Survey, test, and report on existing electrical/mechanical installations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Client Representation: Represent the company at technical meetings with clients, professional teams, and contractors, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Engineering Calculations: Ensure that engineering calculations and drawings meet required industry and legal standards.
  • Day-to-Day Decision Making: Make informed decisions on project progress, direct liaison with clients, and provide advice on engineering matters.
  • Risk and Performance Monitoring: Ensure effective systems of internal control and delegation, monitoring risk and performance analysis.
  • Project Coordination: Lead on the coordination of engineering services, ensuring seamless project delivery.
Requirements:
  • Education: BSc/BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Professional Qualifications: MCIBSE/MIEE or HND/HNC + appropriate experience or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer Status: Chartered Engineer status is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Significant experience of specification design for a range of building types.
  • Health and Safety: Sound knowledge and working application of key health and safety issues and legislation.
  • Contract and Business Law: Appreciation and working knowledge of contract and business law.
  • Software Skills: Proficient in MS Office applications, including Word and Excel, and ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
  • Industry Knowledge: Good understanding of BS standards, UK regulations, and codes.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills: Ability to prioritize own workload, work to deadlines, and demonstrate leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Business Acumen: Experience and understanding of invoicing and credit control.
