Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Science Laboratory Technician to join our team at Tradewind Recruitment. As a Science Laboratory Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting the science department in a leading mainstream secondary school in Lewisham.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons, ensuring that all necessary equipment is in good working order and that materials are properly stored and organized.
  2. Assist teaching staff during practical science sessions, providing technical support and guidance as needed.
  3. Maintain and clean laboratory equipment and workspaces, adhering to health and safety protocols and ensuring that all areas are clean and well-maintained.
  4. Manage inventory and order supplies for the science department, ensuring that all necessary materials are available and that orders are placed in a timely manner.
  5. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the laboratory, identifying and reporting any potential hazards and taking steps to mitigate them.
  6. Assist with the organisation and execution of science-related events and projects, working closely with teaching staff and other members of the science department to ensure successful outcomes.

Requirements:

  1. A strong interest in science and education, with a passion for supporting the next generation of scientists.
  2. Basic understanding of laboratory equipment and safety protocols, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  3. Previous experience as a science technician is preferred, but not required. We are happy to consider candidates with relevant experience in a related field.
  4. A valid DBS on the update service is essential, as is a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
