Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Education Support Officer to join our team at the Virtual School Kent, a service within Kent County Council. The successful candidate will work in our South Kent team, supporting schools, stakeholders, and young people in care in the area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of Young People and Children in Care, ensuring they have high-quality, up-to-date, and regularly reviewed Personal Education Plans (PEPs).
  • Collaborate with school staff, social workers, partners across multi-agency teams, and carers to ensure best outcomes for children and young people in care.
  • Be self-motivated and highly organized, with the ability to prioritize work and be flexible to meet the needs of the team and the young people we support.
  • Have an excellent knowledge of the education system and a commitment to inclusion.

Working Arrangements

This is a Term Time only Contract, which will end initially on 1st April 2025. This will be reviewed at the end of the financial year and the contract will be renewed if Pupil Premium + funding continues. The main base for this role is Brook House in Whitstable. Your week will be varied, with a hybrid pattern of working, including home-based and office-working, as well as attending meetings in different educational settings. Therefore, the ability to travel across the area to meet these requirements is essential.
