Role Responsibility

As an Education Support Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting Children in Care to achieve better educational outcomes.

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our dynamic team at the Virtual School Kent, a service within Kent County Council. The successful candidate will work in our South Kent team, supporting schools, stakeholders, and young people in care in the area.

Your main duties will include managing a caseload of Young People and Children in Care, ensuring they have high-quality, up-to-date, and regularly reviewed Personal Education Plans (PEPs).

To achieve this, you will collaborate with school staff, social workers, partners across multi-agency teams, and carers to ensure best outcomes for children and young people in care.

You will need to be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to prioritize work and be flexible to meet the needs of the team and the young people we support. An excellent knowledge of the education system and a commitment to inclusion are essential for this role.

This is a Term Time only Contract, which will end initially on 1st April 2025. This will be reviewed at the end of the financial year, and the contract will be renewed if Pupil Premium + funding continues.

Your week will be varied, with a hybrid pattern of working, including home-based and office-working, as well as attending meetings in different educational settings. Therefore, the ability to travel across the area to meet these requirements is essential.

Requirements

This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
