Position Overview: As a Graduate Building Surveyor, you will report directly to the Commercial Manager and collaborate closely with a Senior Quantity Surveyor to facilitate the commercial execution of residential development projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Surveying department in managing costs throughout the project lifecycle, from procurement to the finalization of sub-contract accounts.
- Participate in site pre-start meetings to comprehend construction issue drawings alongside the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
- Assist in the preparation of tender packages for all sub-contract trades and ensure compliance with Group Policy and Commercial Best Practices.
- Engage in sub-contract pre-order meetings and liaise with the Build Department regarding sub-contractors' performance and adherence to order conditions.
- Contribute to the production of sub-contract orders aligned with site programming requirements and Group Rebate schemes.
- Monitor and report on post-contract cost movements, providing necessary monthly updates to the Commercial Manager.
- Ensure timely processing of invoices and payment applications in accordance with Standard Terms and Conditions of Contract.
- Promptly inform management of any potential claims or legal actions arising from disputes with Sub-Contractors or Service Providers.
- Utilize the Business Management System (BMS) to effectively manage site project administration, including orders, variations, and valuations.
- Assist in certifying retention releases upon project completion and in preparing and finalizing sub-contract accounts.
Qualifications:
- HNC or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of building regulations and legal obligations.
- Proficient knowledge of construction methods and materials.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent negotiation and networking abilities.
- Membership in the Chartered Institute of Building or working towards full membership is preferred.
