Job Title: Senior Commercial Lawyer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Commercial Lawyer to join our Legal Services team at Sheffield City Council. As a Senior Commercial Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing authoritative advice to the Council's officers and members, ensuring that decisions are lawful and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of commercial matters, including contract, procurement, and subsidy control.
  • Manage a team of legal professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the effective delivery of legal services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Services team.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that legal advice is integrated into business decisions.

Requirements:

  • Recognized legal qualification (Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEX).
  • Proven experience of managing a legal team and providing expert legal advice.
  • Strong understanding of legal case management systems and process knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
