Job Title: Adult Advanced Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Adult Advanced Practitioner to join our team at University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. As a key member of our ACP team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be a senior nurse with a strong background in orthopaedics, possessing excellent clinical skills and leadership abilities. You will be responsible for supporting medical teams with the management of elective orthopaedic patients, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient outcomes.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing holistic health assessments and making independent diagnostic decisions
  • Initiating prescribed treatments and medication, therapies, lifestyle advice, and care
  • Screening patients for early signs of disease and risk factors pertinent to their area of practice
  • Carrying out invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures where appropriate
  • Referring to other health professionals as necessary
  • Discharging patients from hospital/services as required
  • Maintaining meticulous evidence of clinical specific competencies of advanced skills
  • Exercising risk management using professional judgement
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver excellent patient outcomes
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Current registration with a professional body such as the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) or Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • MSc degree in advanced clinical practice or equivalent
  • Professional portfolio evidencing ongoing practice in the four pillars of advanced clinical practice
  • Registered independent non-medical prescriber
  • Mentor/assessor or formal teaching qualification
  • Advanced life support or ILS support provider (dependent on area of practice)
  • Accreditation with The Centre For Advancing Practice
