Band 8a Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oncology/Haematology Pharmacist to join our team at a leading NHS Hospital in Central London. As a Band 8a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services to wards and departments, overseeing the safe management of high-risk systemic anticancer treatments, and contributing to the specialist multidisciplinary team providing inpatient, day case, and outpatient chemotherapy for a range of oncology and haematology cancer sites.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Contribute to the specialist multidisciplinary team providing inpatient, day case, and outpatient chemotherapy for a range of oncology and haematology cancer sites.
  2. Oversee the safe management of high-risk systemic anticancer treatments.
  3. Provide clinical pharmacy services to wards and departments.
  4. Be responsible for the clinical pharmacy service to specialist haematology ward patients.
  5. Attend and contribute to the haematology ward round and MDT meetings.
  6. Contribute to the pharmaceutical care of patients admitted for acute oncology reasons.
  7. Provide specialist advice and support to medical and nursing staff and other members of the pharmacy team.
  8. Educate and train nurses and other members of the pharmacy team.
  9. Act as a pharmaceutical and prescribing adviser, including the production and review of medicines-related guidelines and pathways.
  10. Provide professional supervision to technical and supporting staff and undertake the role of Responsible Pharmacist when required.
  11. Contribute to the delivery and development of clinical pharmacy services across the Trust.
  12. Actively participate within the multi-disciplinary and clinical pharmacy team.
  13. Participate in clinical audit and other initiatives aimed at assuring high-quality prescribing and pharmacy practice.
Requirements:
  1. MPharm
  2. Registered with GPHC
  3. Strong communication skills
  4. Reliable
  5. BOPA SACT Passport
Working Hours:

Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm, 30-minute break
