Position Overview

The primary function of this role is to assist the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) and the Assistant Head (Pastoral & Designated Safeguarding Lead) in orchestrating the support framework for students with special educational needs. This encompasses various administrative responsibilities such as maintaining records, organizing meetings, providing direct assistance to students, managing educational resources, monitoring student development, facilitating effective communication, and participating in training initiatives. The specific tasks may differ between the SENCO and the Assistant Head, yet collectively they ensure that students with special needs receive the essential support they require.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working collaboratively with the SENCO to enhance curriculum delivery for students with special educational needs.
  • Contributing to the formulation of strategies aimed at improving the academic performance of students with special educational needs.
  • Encouraging innovative approaches to support the learning and development of students with special educational needs.
  • Overseeing the maintenance of school records related to Learning Support requirements.
  • Participating in meetings focused on special educational needs and ensuring that documentation includes Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound (SMART) objectives for individual students.

Required Qualifications

  • GCSE or equivalent qualification in Mathematics.
  • Grade C or higher in English or equivalent qualification.
