About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Land Officer - Estates Surveyor to join our team at Northern Gas Networks. As a key member of our Land and Property department, you will be responsible for delivering effective provision of Land, Estates, and Property management services to support our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Acquisition of New Property Rights: You will be responsible for acquiring new property rights, including site inspections, negotiations with landowners, valuation of rights and fees, and progression of legal documentation.
  • Advice and Management of Existing Rights: You will provide advice and management of existing rights, including review of existing legal documentation, study of operational requirements, and determination of the best way to progress.
  • Resolution of Land-Related Compensation Claims: You will be responsible for resolving land-related compensation claims, including review of issues, review of existing legal documents, inspection of issues and reasons, and resolution of claims.
  • Land Valuation and Reporting: You will provide land valuation and reporting services, including required on all expenditure matters.
  • Property Lead: You will act as a property lead when appointed to operational projects, providing advice on all property-related matters, including input into project team requirements, property budget advice, and considerations.
  • Instruction and Management of Legal and Surveying Teams: You will manage the instruction and management of legal and surveying teams, including management of professional services when required.
  • Progress Reporting: You will provide progress reporting, including input into various project groups with regards to timescales, budget costs, and any issues.
Requirements
  • Understanding of the Land and Property Market: You will have an understanding and experience of the land and property market, including values, tenures, and land charges.
  • Understanding of Agriculture: You will have an understanding of agriculture and how factors impact on this.
  • Understanding of Legal Land and Property Rights: You will have an understanding of legal land and property rights and the legal process for acquiring these.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and be comfortable speaking to third parties in the field.
  • Ability to Manage Own Workload: You will be able to manage your own workload and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to Negotiate with Stakeholders: You will be able to negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Understanding of Gas Transmission and Distribution: You will have an understanding of gas transmission and distribution.
  • Experience of Delivering Reporting and Management Information: You will have experience of delivering reporting and management information relating to various projects.
  • Attention to Detail: You will have attention to detail and be able to identify solutions to resolve legal, property, and/or operational issues.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence: You will have a valid UK driving licence, which is essential for this role.
  • AssocRICS or Willing to Work Towards: You will either have AssocRICS or be willing to work towards this qualification.

  • Competitive Starting Salary: We offer a competitive starting salary of £40,359.00 per annum.
  • Up to 10% Bonus: You will be eligible for up to 10% bonus.
