Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Arksey Primary School. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and development of our pupils.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individualized support to pupils with additional learning needs, including SEMH and SLCN. You will work closely with our teaching staff to deliver focused interventions and develop strategies to support pupils with English and/or Mathematics difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver learning activities to individuals and groups of pupils, adjusting activities according to pupil needs and evaluating lessons as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate pupil responses to learning activities through a range of assessment and monitoring strategies, providing evidence of progress and attainment.
  • Record progress and achievement in lessons/activities systematically, contributing to the overall ethos and aims of the school.
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and professionals, communicating effectively and professionally.
  • Work as part of a team to manage own tasks and contribute to the overall success of the school.
Requirements:
  • Experience of working with children with additional learning needs, including SEMH and SLCN.
  • Knowledge of a range of learning strategies to assist and support pupils.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with children, parents/carers, and professionals.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and manage own tasks.

Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and applicants will undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers. The role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS certificate, the role is engaged in regulated activity and will therefore require a children's barred list check.
