Job Title: Assistant Underwriter - Japanese Business

Join our team at Tokio Marine HCC as an Assistant Underwriter - Japanese Business, where you will play a key role in the portfolio management of Japanese corporate clients and the acquisition of new business and retention of existing clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the team with the portfolio management of Japanese corporate clients
  • Under the supervision of Underwriter / Senior Underwriter, acquire new business and retain existing clients
  • Ensure documentation is prepared correctly and issued within contract certainty time frames
  • General underwriting administration and compilation of processing data to ensure efficient workflow and data quality
  • Liaise with other departments on various issues such as risk entry, premium booking, claims, exception reports, credit control
  • Assist the Head of Underwriting with collation of information, running of reports to facilitate the monitoring of the portfolio
  • Undertake specific ad-hoc projects as and when required
  • Attend in-house / external training sessions and actively maintain own training record
Requirements:
  • Educated to at least A level or equivalent with good Maths and English GCSE grades
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to underpin broker development and relationship building
  • Working towards insurance qualifications
  • Knowledge of insurance industry regulations and trends
  • Experience of underwriting Property, Casualty and Construction business is desirable which could be from the commercial SME sector
