We are currently seeking a Director of Quantity Surveying to enhance our team in London, focusing on the business development and expansion of our consultancy services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a diverse range of pre and post-contract responsibilities, ensuring adherence to best practices, including but not limited to:
    • Cost estimation and planning, including lifecycle costing and value management.
    • Preparation of tender and contract documentation, including the compilation of bills of quantities.
    • Contract administration.
    • Post-contract cost management.
  • Manage all project activities in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Leadership and Oversight:
    • Supervise teams delivering Quantity Surveying services.
    • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Guarantee project delivery within the agreed scope and budget.
  • Client Engagement:
    • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to address their needs and concerns.
    • Represent the consultancy in the marketplace.
  • Act professionally on behalf of the consultancy, promoting company values at all times.
  • Ensure efficient and timely execution of all tasks and project requirements, striving to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
  • Coordinate and prepare information to support clients, actively listening to their requirements and responding accordingly.
  • Oversee, review, and approve team outputs.
  • Report to clients and stakeholders as required, adhering to company standards.
  • Support business development initiatives through networking.
  • Generate new business opportunities through personal efforts, including cross-selling additional services to existing clients.
  • Mentor junior staff and oversee their professional development.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities.
  • Manage fees, including bid preparation, fee forecasting, and addressing negative profit and aged debt.
  • Participate in the management of the business as part of the Senior Management Team.
  • Oversee resource management and project allocation.

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in a similar role.
  • Possess a RICS accredited degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • MRICS or FRICS accreditation is required.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Familiarity with construction IT systems such as CATO, CostX, and Microsoft Project.
  • Demonstrated core Quantity Surveying skills with a track record of successful project delivery across various sectors.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work collaboratively with colleagues to meet deadlines.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and development in line with RICS standards.
  • Knowledge of current contract forms (e.g., SBCC, NEC).
  • Strong negotiation skills and expertise in contract interpretation.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Proven team management and leadership abilities.
