The Role
Are you ready to take on a significant role in shaping the future of fusion energy? As the Lead Commercial Strategist for Professional Services and ICT, you will be instrumental in establishing and guiding a new corporate procurement category team dedicated to Professional Services and ICT.
The scope of services encompasses a comprehensive range of HR, Finance, and ICT service needs. By implementing a category management framework, you will enhance market understanding and refine requirements to secure optimal solutions from the marketplace, ensuring maximum value. Your contributions will also streamline our category sourcing processes, strengthen supplier partnerships, enhance spend analysis, and mitigate risks.
You will be fully accountable for the strategic development of each subcategory within this service area, crafting solutions that exemplify best-in-class design based on market capabilities. This will involve:
- Formulating a suitable commercial category strategy and policy.
- Establishing robust commercial assurance and governance for the category.
- Defining a commercial risk appetite approach.
- Developing commercial intelligence to guide future category strategies.
- Conducting regular business analysis.
- Oversee all sourcing activities for major expenditure categories and designated projects, adjusting resources to align with strategic deadlines and organizational goals.
- Encourage effective communication and team commitment, fostering strong working relationships at both project and direct reporting levels.
- Design and implement supply chain strategies to ensure optimal procurement value, providing leadership and influence to support commercial engagements.
- Address conflicts constructively with team members and stakeholders, including high-level government entities.
- Manage procurement and commercial responsibilities for all projects within assigned categories, ensuring adherence to commercial requirements and regulations.
- Guide the creation, development, and implementation of commercial policies, procedures, and processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and outcomes.
Essential Requirements:
- Fully qualified MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply).
- Experience in Category Management.
- Degree level education or equivalent experience.
- Proficient understanding of public contract regulations since 2015 on end-to-end procurements and familiarity with the Public Procurement Regulations 2023.
- Experience at a strategic procurement project and program level, acting as the lead expert for complex/critical procurement and commercial issues while influencing both internal and external stakeholders.
