The company is on an accelerated growth trajectory, having successfully completed its first acquisition and currently negotiating several key deals. The leadership team boasts extensive experience in driving buy-and-build strategies and fostering an exceptional workplace culture.

As the Group Financial Controller, you will report directly to the Group CFO, stepping into a pivotal role within a rapidly expanding professional services group. The central finance function is in its early stages, offering you a unique opportunity to shape its development. You will be responsible for establishing the central finance team, enhancing controls, and refining reporting processes across the organization. This position provides a valuable chance to gain significant exposure to private equity dynamics and actively contribute to a strategically focused growth agenda, with immediate involvement in mergers and acquisitions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust financial controls and systems to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee Group reporting, including the preparation of Monthly Board packs and comprehensive Group reporting packs and consolidations.
  • Prepare annual Consolidated Financial Statements in close collaboration with auditors.
  • Manage Group cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and financial planning.
  • Handle tax return responsibilities (VAT, CT, and MTD) with support from the hub and external partners.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of monthly Management Accounts and Financial KPIs.
  • Analyze P&L statements to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Enhance reporting timelines to meet the demands of private equity investors for weekly/monthly management information.
  • Oversee covenant and cash flow reporting.
  • Manage regulatory reporting, including compliance with ICAEW, FCA, and SRA regulations.
  • Lead M&A transaction accounting and provide support for acquisitions, including due diligence, risk assessment, integration planning, and post-deal financial control.
  • Assist with long-term exit strategies, including data room preparation and due diligence.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Fully qualified accountant with experience in multi-site operations.
  • Proven track record in a private equity-backed environment is essential.
  • Previous experience in business or professional services is preferred.
  • Capability to build a top-tier finance function, enhancing team development and the quality of financial reporting.
