Main Responsibilities of the CNC Programming Specialist:
Required Skills & Experience:
Utilizing various CAM software, including SmartCAM and GibbsCAM, the role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining programs for diverse manufacturing applications.
Proficiency in Creo (ProEngineer) is essential, as the position requires the ability to analyze models to generate programs for intricate machined profiles on milling, turning, and turn/mill machinery.
The specialist will be tasked with creating and refining programs and methodologies tailored for specific manufacturing processes using specialized software.
Ensuring that all routings are precise, user-friendly, and current is crucial, along with cost-effective routing. Estimating product costs for sales will enhance this expertise.
Additionally, the role includes assisting in compiling machining times for quotes on new projects and estimating product costs for the sales team and management as necessary.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Programming Specialist.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
The candidate should have completed a practical engineering apprenticeship.
Previous experience in an engineering production or manufacturing role is essential, along with substantial experience gained post-apprenticeship.
A proven history of utilizing computer software to generate CNC programs is required.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometrical tolerancing, and dimensioning is necessary.
Comprehensive knowledge of engineering tooling for manufacturing components is expected.
Familiarity with tools, cutters, inserts, and workholding methodologies, both established and emerging, is important.
Experience with engineering materials, including stainless steel and exotic materials such as Inconel, Super Duplex, and Titanium, with the ability to optimize cutting performance and processing of these materials, is required.
A minimum of HNC in mechanical engineering is mandatory.
Salary / Hourly Rates:
£38,000 to £40,000
Work Schedule:
Day shifts: 7:30 AM to 4:15 PM, Monday to Thursday, and until 12:30 PM on Fridays.
Twilight shifts: 4:00 PM to 12:00 AM, Monday to Thursday, and 6:00 PM on Fridays.
Night shifts: 10:00 PM to 7:30 AM, Monday to Thursday.
