Compassionate Personal Support Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic individual to join our team of Personal Support Assistants (PSAs) who empower individuals to maintain their independence.
The ideal candidate will assist a 57-year-old female client with various daily activities, providing support that accommodates her unique needs and preferences.
Compensation and Hours:
The position offers a rate of £13 per hour, with flexible scheduling options available, totaling approximately 18 hours per week based on the client's requirements and the availability of the PSAs. Support will be needed for morning and evening routines throughout the week, as well as for daytime activities on several occasions.
Key Responsibilities:
Your role will involve assisting the client with daily tasks that may include personal care, household chores, community engagement, social visits, shopping, DIY projects, gardening, and recreational outings. Building a strong rapport with the client is essential to understand her priorities and preferences.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about their work, share a sense of humor, and motivate the client to overcome challenges. You will need to develop an intuitive understanding of when to encourage activity and when to allow for rest, ensuring the client feels supported and in control.
While most interactions will be on a one-on-one basis, teamwork will also be required. Training will primarily occur on the job, with opportunities for job shadowing and formal training available.
This position requires an enhanced DBS disclosure, which will be covered by the employer.
Desired Qualities:
The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Reliable and trustworthy.

- Enthusiastic, motivating, and fun to work with, appreciating the client's sense of humor.
- Comfortable with dogs and willing to adhere to guidelines regarding interactions with the client's Assistance Dog.
- Flexible, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Independent and capable of working autonomously while respecting the client's wishes.
- Previous experience as a PSA is a plus, but personality and a willingness to learn are paramount.
- Possession of a full driving license to assist with transportation to activities and appointments.
- Genuine interest in supporting individuals to lead fulfilling and independent lives.
- Empathetic and capable of providing support in sensitive situations.
- Willingness to engage in various activities that promote the client's goals and mental well-being.
- Practical, able to follow instructions, and respect the client's preferences.
- A good listener, non-judgmental, with an understanding of mental health issues and adaptability to changes in plans.
- Organized and quick to learn the layout of the client's environment.
- Vaccinated and open to future vaccinations to ensure the client's safety.
- Good navigation skills for activities involving a caravan.
