About the Role

We're seeking a skilled software engineer to join our team at Jane Street, where you'll play a key part in designing and implementing our next-generation browser-based tools for operating our trading infrastructure.

As a front-end expert, you'll be responsible for crafting sophisticated user interfaces that meet the high standards of our expert users. Your passion for UI design, user experience, and typed functional programming will be invaluable in shaping our development practices and firm-wide approach to UI development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement complex UIs in the browser, leveraging your expertise in web technologies, including CSS, the DOM, and UI frameworks like Vue, Angular, React, and Flutter.
  • Collaborate with traders and other end-users to understand their needs and develop tools that meet their expectations.
  • Contribute to the development of libraries and abstractions that capture common interaction idioms, enhancing our development practices and firm-wide approach to UI development.
Requirements
  • Strong background in web technologies, including browser fundamentals and UI frameworks.
  • Practical experience building sophisticated UIs in the browser.
  • Interest in and appreciation of typed functional programming, with experience in languages like Elm, ReasonML, Purescript, and Typescript a plus.
