We are seeking an experienced Clinical Psychologist to join our team in a Band 8a position within our Specialist Weight Management Service. The successful candidate will have a strong background in trauma and weight management, with experience in assessing and treating complex cases.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, treat, and formulate cases of the highest complexity, both non-surgical and pre-weight loss surgery.
- Lead on the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of the expanding psychology group offer within SWMS.
- Provide individual psychology treatment using a range of therapeutic models, managing therapeutic relationships when contributing to assessment of suitability for surgery and delivering news people do not wish to hear.
- Supervise band 7 psychologists and CAP, and provide ad hoc peer supervision of colleagues when required.
- Attend Triage, SWMS, Medical, and Bariatric MDT meetings as required.
- Contribute to consultancy, teaching, and training.
Our team is committed to providing compassionate interventions and the best possible care to a highly stigmatized patient group. We are based in an acute hospital setting and have close links to the Bariatric Surgery Service. We offer a supportive and collaborative work environment, with opportunities for peer support and team working.
Requirements- Experience of assessing and treating complex trauma and severe and enduring mental health conditions.
- Experience of leading groups for people with complex physical or mental health.
- Desirable: experience of working in physical health, weight management, or related areas.
