Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a special education needs school in the Hitchin region. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs and challenging behaviors.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will work closely with a dedicated and hardworking staff team to provide a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs. You will be responsible for assisting pupils with academic tasks, encouraging independence, and safeguarding all children.

Responsibilities:
  • Working with small groups and 1:1 to support students with special needs
  • Assisting pupils with academic tasks and encouraging independence
  • Safeguarding all children and adhering to the curriculum
  • Communicating with and encouraging children with additional needs
  • Being flexible, caring, and nurturing in your approach
  • Having good organisational and verbal communication skills
Requirements:
  • Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to get one
  • Experience working with children or young people with additional care needs
  • Experience with behaviors that are challenging
  • A calm and caring personality
  • A strong and resilient personality and commitment to pupils' development
  • Reading, writing, numeracy, and communication skills
