The Director of Technology and Digital Services is a pivotal role within the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, responsible for overseeing the management of complex and large-scale technology services that support the trust's business and clinical needs.
This position requires a seasoned leader with expertise in IT and digital services, who can drive improvements through technical design, process design, and review to ensure the trust's digital infrastructure is cost-effective, resilient, and aligned with industry best practices.
Main Responsibilities- Operational Leadership: The Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Digital IT function, ensuring that the trust's business and clinical needs are reflected in its technology applications and services.
- Team Leadership: The Director will lead the IT Directorate, ensuring that the team is enabled, capable, and skilled to deliver highly complex systems and services across the trust.
- Strategic Planning: The Director will drive improvements through strategic planning, technical design, process design, and review to ensure the trust's digital infrastructure is cost-effective and aligned with industry best practices.
- Cyber Security: The Director will ensure that the trust's digital infrastructure is secure and resilient, with a strong focus on cyber security.
- Partnership Working: The Director will work closely with the Chief Digital Officer to identify and shape the trust's future technology requirements and operating models.
The London Ambulance Service NHS Trust is a leading provider of emergency and urgent care services in the UK, serving a diverse population of over 8 million people. The trust employs over 9,000 people who work or volunteer across London to respond to the health needs of the capital.
The trust works closely with its NHS partners and is commissioned by 32 clinical commissioning groups across 5 sustainability and transformation partnerships (STPs) and NHS England for its specialist services.
The trust has a unique opportunity to play a leading role in integrating access to emergency and urgent care services across London.
Person Specification- Leadership and Management Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have leadership and management qualifications or substantial senior-level experience in a complex IT organisation delivering significant and successful change programmes.
- Personal and Professional Development: The candidate will have evidence of up-to-date personal and professional development, with a strong focus on staying current with industry trends and best practices.
- IT Specialist Experience: The candidate will have extensive experience of working close to Board Level in a senior management role, with a proven track record of successful strategic planning and implementation in the IT field.
- Cyber Security Experience: The candidate will have a strong understanding of cyber security principles and practices, with experience of implementing and managing secure IT systems.
- Team Management: The candidate will have proven experience of managing and motivating diverse teams to achieve high levels of performance.
