Job Title: Field Service Technician Mechanical

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Technician Mechanical to join our team at National Oilwell Varco. As a Field Service Technician Mechanical, you will be responsible for providing technical support for Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) operations, including preparation, execution, and end-of-well maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support for MPD operations, including rig up and rig down of MPD equipment.
  • Assist the MPD Field Service Supervisor in all tasks at the wellsite.
  • Maintain rigsite MPD equipment as per OEM manuals.
  • Run the MPD panel while making connections to manage bottom-hole pressure in various control modes.
  • Interface with controls engineers in downloading, uploading, and troubleshooting software in PLCs.
  • Maintain and redress RCD bearing assemblies as required.
  • Support shore-based and workshop-based activities as needed.
Requirements:
  • Must have experience in Managed Pressure Drilling operations, either directly or indirectly.
  • Experience working with upstream drilling equipment, either in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Calibration, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting skills, including system rig up and rig down.
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical aptitude, with troubleshooting skills, including wiring.
  • Familiarity with feedback control loops and control fundamentals, including single-loop controllers and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic setups and process flow diagrams.
  • Proven track history of running RCDs and knowledge of pressurized equipment and systems.
  • Understanding of drilling systems and processes.
  • Ability to understand, evaluate, and apply technical information to solve problems.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment and mitigation processes.
  • Effective time management skills, with the ability to apportion time effectively to complete tasks.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to provide colleagues with the information they need to work effectively as a team.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • ONC/HNC/HND in Engineering or City & Guilds.
  • Computer literacy, including good command of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Electrical/Mechanical knowledge within installation, commissioning, servicing, and maintenance environments.
  • Interpretation of engineering drawings.
  • Ample experience in a similar role and environment.
