Job Title: SEN Tutor

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Tutor to provide one-to-one tuition to a young person with complex special educational needs in the Guildford area.

Job Description:

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering tailored lessons to bridge gaps in the student's education and boost attainment levels. The tuition will involve delivery of Maths and English, and the tutor will be expected to conduct a baseline assessment to assess the student's ability and then deliver the curriculum they deem suitable.

The student has complex SEN and is working below age-related expectations. The support will be taking place at the young person's house or in a local library on a part-time basis (up to 25 hours per week).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver one-to-one tuition to a student with complex special educational needs
  • Conduct baseline assessments to assess the student's ability
  • Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans to bridge gaps in the student's education
  • Provide support to the student in Maths and English
  • Work with the student to set and achieve academic goals
Requirements:
  • QTS or equivalent teaching qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience working with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Possess UK classroom teaching experience and experience delivering tailored lesson plans
  • Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
  • Have experience working with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
Eligibility:
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional child-related references
