Job Title: Director, Software & Control Engineering

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Software & Control Engineering to join our team at Turntide Technologies Inc. in Gateshead, England, UK.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing our Global Software & Control Engineering function, adopting state-of-the-art design and validation practices, and driving the team to support applications, product, and sales on new business opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in embedded software/systems, control, or advanced control, with extensive experience of leading software or control teams. They will also possess excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as good commercial awareness and proactive problem-solving skills.

The role will involve moderate traveling between different offices and will report into the VP of Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and develop the Global Software & Control Engineering function, adopting state-of-the-art design and validation practices.
  • Take full ownership and be accountable for the Software & Control Engineering function's output to support both development and customer projects across all product lines.
  • Drive the team to support applications, product, and sales on new business opportunities with technical supporting including RFQs review/preparation, design reviews, and discussions with customers.
  • Support Operations for any manufacturing or quality issues and work with the team to resolve them in a timely manner.
  • Partner with global software service providers to support our software development and deliver high-quality results.
Requirements:
  • Strong background in embedded software/systems, control, or advanced control.
  • Extensive experience of leading software or control teams with 10+ years.
  • Experience in the whole software development lifecycle.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Able to travel domestically or internationally.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Software, Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, or related engineering field.
  • Relevant experience could also be considered.

  • Good commercial awareness and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work alone with minimum guidance, but also be able to operate effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to mentor and train effectively, supporting development through hands-on or practical experience.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to engage and drive a positive high-performance culture.
  • Able to travel both within and outside of the UK.
