As a Senior Electrical Systems Engineer at Vantage Consulting, you will play a pivotal role in the design and development of innovative electrical systems for a variety of products. Your expertise will be essential in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to establish system requirements and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for both new and existing products.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to define and document system requirements.
- Create comprehensive schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts utilizing industry-standard tools.
- Ensure adherence to relevant electrical codes and standards throughout the design process.
- Specify, select, and procure components, materials, and equipment based on project specifications.
- Engage with vendors to assess and acquire necessary electrical components.
- Prototype and test electrical systems to confirm design concepts and functionality.
- Analyze testing outcomes and implement design enhancements as required.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, firmware developers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective integration of electrical systems.
- Assist project managers in establishing project timelines and milestones.
- Document electrical designs thoroughly, including specifications, test plans, and technical manuals.
- Maintain precise records of design modifications and updates.
- Implement quality assurance measures to guarantee the reliability and performance of electrical systems.
- Conduct design reviews and participate in cross-functional team evaluations.
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electric/Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Membership in a relevant professional organization, preferably chartered.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design and system controls development.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing and implementing large-scale, mission-critical systems.
Required Skills
- Proficient in PLC programming, particularly with Siemens (Simatic Manager/TIA Portal) and Rockwell, including safety systems.
- Experience with HMI systems (TIA WinCC Advanced/Panelview).
- Familiarity with SCADA systems (WinCC/TiaWinCC/InTouch/ViewDesigner).
- System design experience using EPLAN.
- Knowledge of industry-standard communication protocols.
- Experience with Ethernet (IP), Profinet, Modbus, Profibus, Profisafe, ControlNet, and CTNet.
- Ability to develop complete software solutions from initial concept to execution for systems based on high-level PLCs with multiple remote I/O nodes.
- Strong problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment.
