About the Role

Brent Council is seeking an experienced and innovative Head of Learning to lead the development and delivery of our arts education programme. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the strategic growth of our learning services, building partnerships with schools and educational institutions, and securing external funding to support our ambitions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive learning strategy that aligns with the Council's education and arts priorities.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, educational institutions, and other stakeholders to promote our learning services and identify new opportunities.
  • Secure external funding to support the growth of our learning programme, including preparing successful funding applications.
  • Lead a team of learning professionals, providing guidance, support, and performance management to ensure they are equipped to deliver high-quality services.
  • Develop and manage budgets, ensuring effective financial planning and management to achieve our learning programme goals.
  • Advocate for the importance of arts education and the value of our learning services to key stakeholders, including schools, educational institutions, and local authorities.
  • Stay up-to-date with local and national education initiatives, identifying opportunities to collaborate and share best practices.

Person Specification

  • Proven experience in leading arts education programmes, with a strong track record of innovation and growth.
  • Excellent knowledge of the formal education sector, including the needs, challenges, and opportunities for schools.
  • Ability to motivate and empower a team, with experience of effective performance management.
  • Strong financial planning, management, and analytic skills, with experience of setting and monitoring budgets.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and interest in the arts, with a passion for promoting arts education and its benefits.
